Title: Senior Software Engineer

Company Mission: Iterative Scopes’ mission is to narrow global healthcare disparities by empowering doctors with computer vision tools that help them detect and prevent colorectal cancer. Our goal is to deploy our machine learning technology around the world to reduce the incidence of colorectal cancer and save lives.

 

Iterative Scopes’ is a venture backed company established by Jonathan Ng, MD a second time founder. The company has raised over $6M and is on track to be one of the fastest growing MIT startups. The scientific advisory board includes world-class gastroenterologists primarily based in Boston and leading MIT computer vision and machine learning researchers and faculty.

Job Overview: We are looking for an experienced software engineering leader to:

  1. Collaborate with a team of software engineers to build our cloud-based business-to-physician software platform with a focus on optimizing and deploying the infrastructure that supports machine learning algorithms built by a growing team of engineers;

  2. Design and evolve an expansive technical architecture within a fast-growth start-up alongside a strong team in the MIT/Kendall Square ecosystem;

  3. Spend 90% of their time and effort building product and 10% developing our software engineering team.

We are seeking proven software engineers passionate about building scalable, cloud-based software products; candidates should have professional experience building reliable, maintainable, and scalable software products, a strong work ethic, and an obsession for writing well-commented, maintainable, and extensible code.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Setting a new standard for code quality and developing excellent, reliable software;

  • Building and improving a variety of cloud-based software components, including data manipulation ;

  • Working with a team of machine learning and software engineers to build data pipelines and applications from the scale of prototype to enterprise product.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 7–10 years industry experience in building and maintaining production applications

  • Proven ability to design, build, and ship scalable cloud-based software solutions

  • Proficiency with Python, SQL, and JavaScript

  • Experience building apps on AWS

  • Experience with CI/CD tools and processes

  • Experience with microservices (e.g. Docker + Kubernetes)

  • Experience with automated testing and test-driven development

  • Well-versed in modern application development practices (e.g., Scrum)

  • Self-starter, able to quickly master new technologies and skills—this role will be essential in establishing a strong engineering-driven culture

Preferred Qualifications:

  • B.S. in computer engineering, computer science, or similar discipline; Master’s preferred

  • Experience analyzing video and images, building production machine learning models, and developing full-stack web applications from scratch (i.e. experience building apps with frameworks and libraries like Django, Node, React, etc.)

  • Experience working with serverless computing (e.g., AWS Lambda) and end-to-end data services and infrastructure engineering

  • Experience managing large volumes of video and high-resolution images;

  • Data-driven product development and analytics instrumentation (e.g., Google Analytics, Mixpanel)
